Boost Your Meta Quest Store Presence with Self-Serve Pre-Orders & Coming Soon Pages
Oculus VR
Making an impact on launch day isn’t easy if you’re trying to go from 0 – 60 mph right out of the gate. Momentum is key for generating the type of buzz that leads to immediate sales. Starting today, we’re making it easier than ever to level-up your launch day on the Meta Quest Store with self-serve Pre-Orders and Coming Soon pages along with accompanying analytics to support your marketing strategy. You can leverage these two new tools in the Developer Dashboard to drive awareness and user acquisition with relatively minimal effort ahead of launch—and hit the ground running with earlier insights into revenue.
Most apps don’t sell themselves—developers put resources into marketing their app and growing an audience on various platforms leading up to launch day. Pre-Orders and Coming Soon pages enable you to lock-in sales and fuel greater awareness directly on the Meta Quest Store to engage the most active fans and minimize the steps between informing a user about your app and having them purchase it.
Dive in below for details about each feature and get started with links to documentation.
Go Live Faster with Self-Serve Functionality
We’ve streamlined the submission process to give you more autonomy over your monetization strategy and eliminate barriers during review. You can now easily set up a Pre-Order or Coming Soon page in their respective pages in the Developer Dashboard and get them approved quickly without needing an approved binary. To ensure a smooth process, we recommend submitting your Pre-Order or Coming Soon page assets two weeks prior to when you want it to go live on the Meta Quest Store so they can be approved by our team.
The self-serve Pre-Order flow in the Developer Dashboard.
If you aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of Pre-Orders, here’s what you need to know:
Pre-Orders create a product detail page (PDP) for your app on the Meta Quest Store ahead of launch day, which lets people purchase it and be immediately entitled upon launch.
People aren’t charged for their purchase until the day prior to launch.
Pre-Orders can be enabled up to 90 days prior to launch.
You can choose to apply any % discount on the price of your app to all purchases made via Pre-Orders as a way to incentivize people to give your app a try. We recommend starting with a small discount of 5 - 10% when creating your first Pre-order.
Starting early July 2023, you can monitor the performance of your Pre-Order listing using metrics like projected revenue, cancellations, and more in the Revenue analytics page of the Developer Dashboard.
App metadata and PDP assets are submitted with your Pre-Order. For best practices on Meta Quest Store PDP assets, check out our documentation.
The Revenue analytics page give you detailed insights into Pre-Order performance.
Drive Awareness and Build Community with Coming Soon Listings
To give yourself plenty of time to build momentum and generate visibility for your app, you can create a Coming Soon listing up to 180 days before launch day. Coming Soon listings are similar to Pre-Orders in that a PDP will be generated for your app on the Meta Quest Store along with app metadata and creative assets—but people won’t be able to purchase it until launch day.
Leading up to launch, your Coming Soon page can serve as a useful tool in building community and encouraging people to Wishlist your app. We recommend sharing your app’s Coming Soon page on your marketing channels (social media, emails, etc.) to drive visibility and inform people that they can Wishlist your app before launch.
Level Up Your Monetization on the Meta Quest Store
To get started with these new monetization tools, check out our documentation for Pre-Orders and Coming Soon listings.
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution to monetization, and we encourage you to explore other tools like A/B Testing and Try Before You Buy as a means of driving conversions and visibility on the Meta Quest Store. To learn about more monetization tools, check out our documentation. For more developer updates and the latest news, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
