IMPORTANT: Effective as of the release of v83, the meta.xr.simulator package is deprecated. Instead, we have migrated the Meta XR Simulator functionality to a standalone application, offering a new User Experience with improved performance and reliability. Functionality for setting the Meta XR Simulator as the active runtime has been relocated to the Core SDK. Please consult the documentation for details.

    • What's New

  • Improved support for a wider range of graphics cards by adjusting how texture handles are managed. This update ensures smoother operation and improved reliability across different GPU vendors.
  • Improve JSON Server to automatically add 2D entity boundaries for JSON recordings without it. This improvement ensures older JSON recordings remain compatible and function correctly.

    • Known Issues

  • A known issue exists when using the "Epic Native Open XR" and RHI of DirectX11 (updated from default). We recommend avoiding this setup and using DX12 until future support is available in an upcoming release.
  • A known issue exists when using the "Epic Native Open XR" and switching device type in Meta XR Simulator. The first device chosen is always shown until Unreal Engine is restarted after change of the device.
